How we
got started

Before ESN was established, Tina was teaching lessons online. She had a dream to create something bigger: an opportunity for more students and teachers around the world to achieve and maintain fluency through genuine connection with others. She partnered with Fran, who brought to the table not only managerial and business skills and experience, but a shared vision. We are a forward-thinking team with plans to grow into a vibrant, connected worldwide community!

Where ESN
came from

Back when we were dreaming up our new enterprise, we thought about what would be important to communicate through its name. We chose English Support Network because our aim is twofold: to support students and teachers alike, and to help them form a global network.

Tina's Story

Tina had long dreamt of teaching English for a living before earning her TEFL certificate in 2007. She spent a number of years working in the disabilities sector, especially in supported employment for adults with intellectual disabilities. Tina worked as a job coach and conducted numerous trainings for employers and non-profit staff on how to work with people with intellectual disabilities. She created and ran a program for refugees which provided support services to assist them with all needs related to gaining employment in the United States. In addition, she ran a career center in which she helped people from all walks of life with barriers to employment (such as previous criminal convictions, language barriers, disabilities, and so on) find jobs. In this role, she taught job readiness courses, resume writing, basic computer skills, and more.

In 2023, Tina officially immigrated to the UK from the US, enriching and expanding her own native English.

Tina is passionate about helping English language learners break through their barriers to success!
